Competitive Field of Seven Set for $50,000 Camilla Urso Stakes

On Saturday at Golden Gate Fields, the featured race is the $50,000 Camilla Urso Stakes. Restricted to fillies and mares, the six furlong contest has attracted a field of seven.
Amaranth has been installed as the morning line favorite at odds of 5-2 in the evenly-matched field for trainer William Antongeorgi, III. A five-year-old daughter of Mr. Greeley, she has won six of her seventeen starts and is a multiple stakes winner. She has been on the shelf since finishing fifth in an optional claiming race in November and has been training forwardly for her return. Jockey O.J. Jauregui will be aboard and they will break from post position two.
Minks Aprise headlines trio for Hollendorfer
Second choice at morning line odds of 7-2 is Minks Aprise, one of three horses in the race for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer. A four-year-old daughter of Northern Afleet, she has three wins from seven starts and will be trying to earn her first stakes victory. She was last seen finishing sixth in the Wishing Well Stakes at Santa Anita in January. Russell Baze will be in the irons and they will break from post position three.
Dauphine Russe (FR) trying to regain form
Also in the field at morning line odds of 6-1 is Dauphine Russe (FR) for trainer David Jacobson. A six-year-old daughter of Russian Blue (IRE), the dark bay mare is a four-time winner and was competitive against stakes competition last year. She has struggled from three starts this year and was last seen finishing sixth in a claiming race. Kyle Frey will be aboard and they will break from post position five.
