On Saturday at Del Mar, the featured race is the 30th running of the $100,000 Cary Grant Stakes. Restricted to horses either bred in California or sired by California-based stallions, the seven-furlong race has drawn a field of eight colts and geldings. 
On Sunday at Aqueduct, the featured race is the first running of the $100,000 Notebook Stakes. Restricted to horses bred in New York, the six-furlong race has drawn a field of nine colts and geldings. 
On Saturday at Gulfstream Park West, a field of eleven two-year-old colts and geldings, along with one entered for the main track only, will compete in the $100,000 Juvenile Turf. The race will be run at one mile on the grass. 
On Saturday at Santa Anita, the undefeated Shared Belief will put his perfect record on the line in the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic. The Grade 1 race, run at a mile and a quarter, has drawn a full field of fourteen with one additional on the also-eligible list. 
The Breeders’ Cup Friday undercard includes four stakes races October 31 at Santa Anita beginning with the Grade 2 $200,000 Las Vegas Marathon featuring a field of eight going a mile and three quarters on the main track. 
On Sunday at Santa Anita, the featured race is the 9th edition of the $75,000 Lure Stakes. The one mile race, scheduled to be run on the turf, has attracted a deep field of nine colts and geldings. 
On Sunday at Keeneland, the featured race is the $125,000 Rood and Riddle Dowager Stakes. The mile and a half contest will be run on the turf and has drawn a full field of fourteen fillies and mares with two additional on the also-eligible list. 
The news that Wise Dan would be scratched from the 2014 Breeders’ Cup Mile due to a non-displaced fracture of the cannon bone comes as a major blow to thoroughbred racing and bettors who might have been looking for a single in the pick six or superfecta key. 
On Monday at Belmont Park, the featured race is the $200,000 Pebbles Stakes. The one mile contest will be run on the Widener Turf Course and has drawn an international field of eleven three-year-old fillies.
